Simple & Hearty Sloppy Joes

Our hearty Sloppy Joes are your 30 minute solution to pleasing a room full of hungry friends. Spill it over the sides of toasted buns, and offer a variety of toppings, such as vegan cheddar, slaw, and sliced green onions. These are great for that Saturday night get together!

Makes 8 servings

what you’ll need:

1 tablespoon oil
1 small onion, diced
1 small green or red bell pepper, diced
2 teaspoons chili powder
½ teaspoon sea salt
1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
¼ cup ketchup
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
1 package Tofurky® Ground Beef Style

how to make:

1. In a large pot, warm oil over medium-low heat. Sauté onions, bell pepper, chili powder, and salt until onions become soft and translucent, about 8-10 minutes.
2. Stir in ground beef style crumbles, tomato sauce, and vinegar. Simmer, stirring occasionally, until sauce thickens, about 15-20 minutes.
3. To serve, evenly divide Sloppy Joe mixture between toasted whole grain buns.
